About 3 kilometers south of Tho Xuan town lies the ancient village of Ban Thach, which has historical significance dating back to the 15th century. According to the elders and locals, Ban Thach village, located in the former Xuan Quang commune (now Xuan Sinh commune, Tho Xuan district, Thanh Hoa province), was known for its beautiful landscape with mountains and rivers, and its favorable geomantic conditions. It was considered an auspicious site, which is why it was chosen by the ancients as the burial place for three kings of the Le Trung Hung Dynasty. The name "Ba Lang" (Three Tombs) is still used by the local people to this day. Specifically, in Bai Trach village, Xuan Giang commune, Tho Xuan district, there is the tomb of Le Du Tong King. The Temple of Kings of the Later Le Dynasty

According to the elders and villagers of Bàn Thạch, it is said that the land of Ba Lăng Vua in Bàn Thạch village, Xuân Quang commune (now Xuân Sinh), was chosen by the ancients as the burial site for the three kings of the Later Le Dynasty because of its picturesque landscapes and favorable feng shui. The name "Ba Lăng Vua" (Three Kings' Tombs) is still used by the local people to this day.

Based on the tombs discovered in the Ba Lăng area, specifically tombs were found in Bái Trạch village, Xuân Giang commune, Thọ Xuân district for King Lê Dụ Tông; at Cồn Cánh Rơi in the former Xuân Quang commune, the tomb of King Lê Mẫn Đế (King Lê Chiêu Thống) was located, and today it is still called Cồn Lê Chiêu Thống by locals ( Cồn means Dune); and the tomb of King Lê Hiển Tông was discovered at Cồn Nẫn, where the current temple stands. In accordance with the moral principle of remembering one's roots, and to express gratitude for the contributions of the kings of the Later Le Dynasty, and following the wishes of the Le family, the local people and authorities worked together to build the Temple of Kings of the Later Le Dynasty as it is today.

Every year, the local government and people organize festivals at the Temple of the Later Le Kings, such as the "Kỳ Phúc" (Prayers for Blessings) ceremony for King Lê Dụ Tông on the 20th of January and for King Lê Hiển Tông on the 17th of July in the lunar calendar. These events are held to express the descendants' gratitude to the kings and to pray for peace, prosperity, favorable weather, and abundant crops.

In “Con Canh Roi”, formerly part of Xuan Quang commune, lies the tomb of Le Man De King. At “Con Nan” (the current location of the Temple) is where the tomb of Le Hien Tong King was discovered by the locals.

The temple dedicated to the three kings: Le Du Tong, Le Hien Tong and Le Man De is located within a historical site covering an area of 18,725 square meters. The temple is built on a platform with nine steps and has a two-chambered, rectangular layout. The “Tien te” (main hall) consists of three bays and two sides, facing southwest. Inside, there is an incense altar with a royal throne and statues of Kings: Le Du Tong and Le Hien Tong. The throne for King Le Man De (also known as Le Chieu Thong) only displays his robes and crown. The “Hau duong” (rear hall), also consisting of three bays, is parallel to the main hall and follows a similar rectangular design, with both structures constructed in a two-story, eight-roofed style. To the right of the main temple is a smaller shrine dedicated to the Empress Dowager, Queens, and Concubines of the Le Trung Hung Dynasty kings. This site is an important center for spiritual activities, including the "Ky Phuc" ceremonies. These include the festival honoring King Le Du Tong on the 20th day of the first lunar month, and the festival for King Le Hien Tong on the 17th day of the seventh lunar month. Along with local events, the temple also hosts activities during full moons, holidays, and New Year's celebrations, when descendants of the Le family, local people, and visitors come to pay their respects, offer incense, flowers, and tributes, praying for national peace, prosperity, good harvests, and favorable weather.
