Cầm Bá Thước, a member of the Thai ethnic group, was born Lò Cắm Pán and was one of the key leaders in the Cần Vương movement in Thanh Hóa at the end of the 19th century. His name and his heroic resistance against French colonization are celebrated not only in Thai history but also as a point of pride and admiration for the people of Thanh Hóa and the whole nation. In honor of his sacrifice and legacy, the people of Thường Xuân built temples to commemorate his life and contributions, marking key moments in his journey. These include three temples: at Lùm Nưa (Vạn Xuân Commune), where he was born; at Cọc Chẽ (Xuân Lẹ Commune), where he paused while being captured by the enemy; and at Cửa Đặt, where he made his final stop.

The Goddess of the Mountains, also known as Mẫu Thượng Ngàn or Lâm Cung Thánh Mẫu, is one of the three main deities worshipped in the Mẫu Religion of Viet Nam, primarily in the northern and central regions. According to legend, she was the daughter of Sơn Tinh (the Mountain Spirit) and Princess Mỵ Nương. In her youth, she was renowned for both her beauty and virtue, earning the name La Bình. During the early years of the Lam Sơn Rebellion, when the rebel forces were weak and stationed at Phản Ấm, the Ming army surrounded them. Outnumbered, the rebels were on the verge of collapse. In the dead of night, Princess Thượng Ngàn used her magical powers to transform into a large torch, guiding the soldiers and leading them to Mường Yên, to the base of Chí Linh Mountain. The sacred light of the torch was visible only to Lê Lợi's forces, while the Ming troops could not see it.
