The origin of the name "Ba Dinh"

The war zone was built in the area of three villages of Thuong Tho, Mau Thinh and My Khe, in the low-lying area. In the floating season, all three villages are completely isolated, creating an ideal terrain for defense. The name "Ba Dinh" originates from the three large communal houses in each village, a symbol of convergence and linkage between communities in the resistance movement.

A place where heroes and will converge

When the French colonialists invaded, patriotic soldiers such as Dinh Cong Trang, Pham Peng and many other comrades, responding to the Can Vuong movement, returned to their homeland to build a resistance base right in Ba Dinh. With the contribution of the people of the three villages, the war zone quickly became an "impregnable fortress."

Dense bamboo ramparts, a system of trenches, solid earthen embankments, and a network of roads for transporting food, are all designed to ensure both combat and safe production. As a result, Ba Dinh war zone is not only a military base but also a symbol of patriotism and self-reliance.

Strategic importance

Ba Dinh war zone plays a strategic role in controlling the arterial traffic route from North to South, protecting the territory of Thanh Hoa and Ninh Binh. At the same time, it is also a solid support for neighboring resistance bases, forming a tight defense network against the invaders.

Eternal pride and honor

The spirit of agitation of the Ba Dinh war zone not only made an important contribution to the anti-French colonial work, but also left a deep imprint in the history of the nation. For that reason, President Ho Chi Minh chose the name "Ba Dinh" to name the historical square in Hanoi where he read the Declaration of Independence, which gave birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam on September 2, 1945.

In order to preserve, embellish and promote the value of the relics of the Ba Dinh Uprising Base Area, the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province has issued Decision 2319/QD-UBND dated 30-6-2022 approving the investment project to build the conservation and embellishment of the relics of the Ba Dinh Uprising Base Area (temple item of Ba Dinh leaders and rebels) in Nga Son district. including items: Temple of Ba Dinh leaders and rebels, Ta Vu, Huu Vu, Relief, Inner Gate, Bridge to the center of the base area, pillar gate, moat (emulating a section of moat in front of the base area), gold am, yard, internal road, fence and technical infrastructure. In which, the total planning area of the overall site of the temple area of Ba Dinh leaders and rebels is 16,538m2. The total investment is 95.5 billion VND. The construction investment project management board of Nga Son district (the investor) shall organize the implementation of project management. The project implementation period is 3 years (2022 - 2024).

The Ba Dinh uprising base has long become a "red address" for traditional patriotic education, revolutionary struggle, national defense and national pride for generations of people here. With that great potential and significance, Ba Dinh Uprising Base Area is connected to relics and scenic spots in the region, serving the tourism and socio-economic development of the locality and the province.
