Mèo Pagoda, also known as Đỉnh Miêu Thiền Tự, has a history spanning over 600 years. The pagoda was constructed during the Trần Dynasty by Princess Chu Huyền and the Mường Chếnh Clan, and shortly became renowned as one of the three largest pagodas in Thanh Hoa at the time.

When Lê Lợi raised the flag of uprising, it is said that he and his troops in their seeking refuge passed by Chu Pagoda. Lê Lợi entered the pagoda, lit incense, and prayed to the Buddha for victory in his struggle against the invaders. After his successful defeat of the Ming forces, Lê Lợi issued an imperial decree to rename Chu Pagoda to Mèo Pagoda. This site is recognized as a Provincial-level Historical, Cultural, and Scenic Monument, serving as a cultural and spiritual tourism destination along Thanh Hoa Province's tourist route number 5.
