The Rooster and Hen Rock Formation

Winding along the mountain slopes, among the whispering pine trees, The Rooster and Hen Rock Formation is a romantically paired, fascinating natural sight. From a distance, visitors can only see two large rocks perched precariously atop a flat stone. However, upon closer inspection, these rocks resemble a giant rooster and hen, earning the name The Rooster and Hen among the locals.

The Rooster and Hen Rock Formation

The Rooster and Hen Rock Formation is tied to a legendary love story of a devoted couple who survived a terrible flood. Due to their unwavering love for each other, the gods transformed them into a pair of birds that forever remained by each other's side.

The gods, pleased with their loyalty, took the birds to the heavens. However, out of deep love for their homeland, the couple begged the gods to allow them to stay in their native land, transforming into two rocks that would remain together forever. Through countless trials and the passage of time, the pair of rocks has remained undisturbed, eternally linked with the village and its people. The rocks have since become the symbol of The Rooster and Hen Rock Formation in Sầm Sơn, Thanh Hóa.

In 1962, The Rooster and Hen Rock Formation was recognized as a national heritage site. Today, it remains a must-see attraction for tourists visiting Sầm Sơn.
