Nowadays, during festivals, people often see 12 young girls carrying a 20m long, 1m wide silk cloth on their heads, walking leisurely, as beautiful as a watercolor painting. Legend has it that: There was a little girl who had lost both her parents. When she was 10, she lived by catching crabs and snails. Every day, she and the villagers went down to the river to catch crabs and snails, returning to their thatched hut at night. One cold day, with a light drizzle, she sat next to the fire, shivering. Suddenly, she heard a faint moan outside. She ran out and saw an old beggar woman shivering. She took the old woman into the house and warmed her up. Just as the pot of sweet potatoes on the stove was cooked, she brought them down to offer her some food. The hungry old beggar woman had been eating for a long time, and in no time, the pot of sweet potatoes had all but been left with a few tubers. Although the girl was poor, she was kind and generous, and only smiled sympathetically. Seeing that the old woman was less tired, she gave her place to lie down while she curled up beside her and fell asleep without realizing it. Waking up in the morning, she looked over and saw that the old woman was still lying there, so she quietly went to the field. As soon as she reached the gate, the old woman called her back and said: I know you are an orphan, I want to stay here so that I can have you and your grandchild. The girl replied: It is precious for you to stay with me, but my family is poor, so how can we support each other? It's okay, we will find a way to live. From then on, there was one more person in the thatched hut. Every day, the old woman taught her to spin and weave cotton to bring to the village to exchange for rice and food. Surprisingly, the old woman and the girl beat the cotton very harshly. The people's lives became much better thanks to that. The good news spread far and wide, and the girls in the village came to ask her to let them learn the craft. She taught them wholeheartedly. In no time, weaving cotton and cotton became the main occupation of the villagers. The cotton was not only sold around the village but also to distant coastal areas. The people's lives became more and more prosperous. Three years have passed in a flash. The old woman said goodbye and left. Before leaving, the old woman told about herself: “I am the seventh daughter of the Jade Emperor. Because I accidentally broke the King's jade cup during the fairy festival, I was banished to the mortal world by the King. Since coming to the mortal world, seeing the people living in misery, I wanted to teach them the craft of weaving. I have traveled to many places to test the hearts of many people, but I found that they only value food and money more than love and morality. Fortunately, when I returned to this land, I found a kind person and I decided to pass on my craft. Before everyone's eyes now is no longer a dirty, ragged old woman, but a beautiful girl. One morning, the sky was clear, and she glided lightly on the crest of the waves. The waves pushed each other as if cheering. Her figure gradually blurred into the silver waves far away to the horizon. The villagers regretted not knowing her name, only knowing that she passed away at the time of the rising tide, so they called her Mrs. Trieu and named their village Trieu - Trieu Duong, meaning rising tide, as a form of gratitude. From then on, every 10th - 11th day of the second lunar month, the villagers held a festival at her temple. In the temple yard, young girls competed to weave silk to offer her the most beautiful silk. In addition, young men also busily pounded sticky rice cakes to offer her the most exquisite cakes. The old men and women wore long dresses, turbans, and spread the most beautiful flowers from their gardens to offer incense in memory of her great contributions.
