Pu Luong Tourism Booms During the Summer Season

Thanks to continuous efforts to diversify tourism products, improve service quality, and strengthen the destination’s brand, the community-based eco-tourism site of Pu Luong (Pu Luong Commune) has recorded strong growth in visitor numbers during the summer season. More tourists are coming to Pu Luong to explore, experience local culture, and stay overnight. This positive trend reflects the destination’s growing appeal, as well as the effectiveness of developing tourism in a more professional and sustainable direction.

Brocade products in Lung Niem Village are becoming increasingly diverse, meeting the needs of visitors for sightseeing and shopping.

During the summer, the homestay of Ha Huy Giap’s family in Don Village attracts large numbers of domestic and international visitors for sightseeing and overnight stays. Giap said that the family’s homestay was built in the traditional stilt-house style, offering a spacious, cool, clean and comfortable environment. It has six rooms with a total capacity of around 100 guests, along with a community house that can accommodate 50 people. During the summer, the number of visitors coming to explore, experience and stay at the homestay is quite high, with occupancy rates consistently exceeding 90 percent.

Visitors can take part in a wide range of activities, including enjoying the natural scenery, exploring terraced rice fields, learning about traditional brocade weaving, experiencing local folk culture, joining bamboo dancing and gong performances, and sampling local specialties.

Lung Niem Village is also an attractive destination for visitors because it has preserved the traditional brocade weaving craft of the Thai ethnic community. Ha Thi Ly, who has extensive knowledge of brocade weaving, said the craft has long been an important part of the traditional cultural heritage of the local Thai people and has been preserved and passed down through generations.

In the past, brocade weaving was primarily practiced to meet the needs of individual households. With the development of the market economy, however, many young people in the area left their hometowns to work elsewhere, putting this traditional craft at risk of fading away. The development of community-based tourism has breathed new life into the craft, helping it make a strong comeback and continue to grow. Many women in the village have returned to weaving, while groups specializing in brocade production have gradually been established to serve visitors.

“When visitors come here, they can sit at the looms and try weaving brocade themselves, while learning about every stage of the process, from preparing and dyeing the threads to creating traditional patterns. In particular, to provide souvenirs for visitors, local residents now produce a wide range of brocade items, including stuffed animals, handbags and small handicrafts. This not only makes the experience more attractive to visitors but also increases the income of local households,” Ly said.

Identifying tourism as an important direction for local economic development, Pù Luông Commune has recently implemented a range of key measures, including investment in infrastructure and transportation, diversification of community-based, cultural, wellness and adventure tourism products such as trekking, as well as promoting digital transformation and developing the area as a green and sustainable destination.

Ha Quy Ton, Head of the Culture and Social Affairs Division of the Pù Luông Commune People’s Committee, said the commune is creating favorable conditions to attract businesses and local residents to invest in resorts and homestays offering a diverse range of experiences for visitors.

There are currently 69 accommodation establishments and resorts in the commune. To meet growing demand, these businesses are making continuous efforts to diversify tourism products, improve service quality, adapt their business policies, and strengthen tourism promotion through digital platforms, websites and online booking applications, gradually expanding their target markets.

In addition, the commune is strengthening cooperation with travel agencies and tourism promotion organizations both inside and outside the province to conduct surveys and develop new tours and travel routes, thereby expanding the visitor market. State management of tourism has also been strengthened, with tourism businesses strictly complying with food safety regulations and working to maintain a civilized, safe and welcoming tourism environment.

In the first six months of 2026, the commune welcomed approximately 138,700 visitors for sightseeing and leisure, nearly 2.5 times higher than the same period in 2025. Tourism revenue was estimated at around VND 160 billion.

With its abundant potential and increasingly systematic tourism development strategies, Pù Luông is gradually establishing itself as an attractive destination on Vietnam’s tourism map.
