Tuong Van Pagoda is located in the central area of Vinh Loc district, near other famous historical sites such as Ho Dynasty Citadel – a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site. Surrounded by a green natural landscape, the temple creates a quiet, dignified but no less poetic space.

According to historical sources, Tuong Van Pagoda was built in the Le Su period, around the fifteenth century. Initially, the pagoda was just a small temple set up by high monks to practice and spread Buddhism. Through many renovations and expansions, the pagoda has become a massive architectural work, bearing the traditional architectural style of the Vietnamese people.

During the resistance war against France and the United States, Tuong Van Pagoda was also a place of refuge, providing food and organizing secret meetings of local revolutionary cadres. The pagoda is not only a spiritual symbol but also closely associated with the heroic history of the nation.

Unique architecture of Tuong Van Pagoda: Tuong Van Pagoda is built in the style of "foreign domestic work," with a balanced and harmonious layout between work items such as the Three Pavilions, the main hall, the ancestral house, and the tower garden.

Three Pavilions: The three gates are superficially designed, with three passages symbolizing the "Three Jewels" (Buddha, Dharma, Sangha). On both sides are Chinese couplets, expressing the philosophy of human life and the teachings of Buddhism.

Main Hall: The main hall is the central area of the pagoda, where statues of Shakyamuni Buddha, Guanyin Bodhisattva and arhats are located. The statues are meticulously crafted from precious wood, covered with gold lipstick, bringing a majestic and solemn look. On the ceiling of the main hall are frescoes depicting the life of the Buddha, made by talented artisans.

Ancestral house:  The ancestral house is a place to worship the monks and ancestors who have contributed to the construction and development of the pagoda over the periods. There are also many precious memorabilia such as ancient Buddhist sutras, bronze bells and Han Nom scripts carved on wood.

Tuong Van Pagoda is an important center of cultural and religious activities of the people of Vinh Loc and surrounding areas. Every year, on major holidays such as Buddha's Birthday, Vu Lan or the full moon in January, the pagoda welcomes thousands of Buddhists and tourists to offer incense, pray for peace, health and good luck.

In addition to worship activities, the pagoda also organizes many religious courses and teachings to spread Buddhist teachings, contributing to moral education and goodness for everyone, especially the younger generation.

With a rich system of artifacts and documents, Tuong Van Pagoda is a place to preserve the precious cultural, historical and artistic values of the nation.

Tuong Van Pagoda not only stands out with its ancient architecture but also blends with the beautiful surrounding nature. The temple grounds are spacious, covered with greenery, lotus ponds and flower gardens, creating a sense of peace and tranquility.

Every year, the Tuong Van Pagoda festival takes place in January of the lunar calendar, attracting a large number of people and tourists to participate. The festival includes traditional rituals such as palanquin procession, incense offering, prayer for peace and folklore activities such as Quan Ho singing, dragon dance, folk games.

Tuong Van Pagoda is a unique cultural and spiritual symbol of Thanh Hoa land. With a rich history, unique architecture and profound spiritual values, the pagoda is not only an ideal pilgrimage destination but also a place to connect the community spirit, preserve and promote national cultural identity.

In 2009, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism ranked Tuong Van Pagoda as a national cultural and historical relic.
