Sầm Sơn Hosts Its First Kite Festival

On the afternoon of August 30, the 2026 Sam Son Kite Festival, themed “Fly with the Sea Breeze of Sam Son,” officially opened. This marked the first time a kite festival has been held in Thanh Hoa Province. The opening ceremony was attended by Dau Thanh Tung, Vice Chairman of the Thanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee, representatives of provincial departments and agencies, leaders of Sam Son Ward, and a large number of visitors.

The 2026 Sam Son Kite Festival brings together 100 kite artists from 15 clubs representing different regions across the country.

The artists have brought 300 kites to the festival, featuring a wide variety of unique shapes, sizes and colors.

The event is not merely an artistic spectacle in the sky, but also a new tourism product of Thanh Hoa, held as part of this year’s series of events promoting the province’s coastal tourism.

Alongside activities such as “Touching the Rhythm of Fishing Village Life,” the pedestrian street, culinary spaces, and tours departing from Sam Son, the festival helps diversify visitors’ experiences, giving them more reasons to visit Sam Son, stay longer, experience more, and return again and again.

At the same time, the event helps promote the image of a dynamic, innovative and developing Thanh Hoa, as well as an attractive Sam Son throughout all four seasons – ready to welcome visitors with new tourism products, fresh experiences and memorable emotions.

During the three-day festival at Sam Son Beach, visitors have the opportunity to enjoy artistic kite performances and admire giant kites, kite formations and aerodynamic kites, while immersing themselves in the spectacular world of LED and illuminated artistic kites at night.

In addition to the performances, the festival offers interactive experiences for the local community and visitors, particularly children. These include making and flying kites, learning how to launch and control them, and meeting and interacting with the kite artists.

The 2026 Sam Son Kite Festival creates a space for generations to connect, where everyone can rediscover a piece of their own childhood memories.

According to the schedule, the 2026 Sam Son Kite Festival will conclude on the afternoon of September 1.
