The temple was built to honor and commemorate Trần Khát Chân, a general who achieved many glorious victories, especially in the resistance against the Champa army. With its ancient architecture, the temple exudes a majestic and imposing beauty while maintaining a sense of elegance, reflected in the intricate carvings and arrangement of its details.
The temple’s architecture includes: the Entrance Gate (Nghinh môn), the Front Hall (tiền đường), the Central Hall (trung đường), and the Inner Sanctuary (hậu cung). Additionally, there are other architectural structures such as the Fish Pond Pavilion (Lầu Ngư dội) and the offering house (nhà sắm lễ). Inside the temple, many valuable artifacts are preserved, especially the royal decrees from the Nguyễn Dynasty, which praise the merits of the Senior General (Thượng tướng quân).

To honor Trần Khát Chân as a saint in folk beliefs, the people in the Vĩnh Lộc region have long practiced the "Cầu Đảo" tradition. During times of prolonged drought, the local people would hold a ceremony, carrying the tablet of Trần Khát Chân to the Mã River to pray to the heavens and the earth for rain. After the ritual, rain would immediately fall, saving the village from drought and ensuring a bountiful harvest.

Every year, on April 24th, the locals organize a boat racing festival symbolizing the naval forces of Trần Khát Chân, who defeated the Champa king Chế Bồng Nga and repelled foreign invaders. This event attracts a large number of tourists and local participants.

The Temple of Trần Khát Chân is not only a spiritual destination but also a place that instills love for the country and national pride in younger generations.
