The Rice Harvest Season in Pù Luông

If travelers are coming from Hanoi to the Nature Reserve, they can take two routes: from the Lác Village (Mai Châu, Hòa Bình) along National Highway 47 and then connecting with Route 15C at the Cò Lương intersection, or via the Hồ Chí Minh Road passing through Cúc Phương, Cẩm Thủy, and then to the Na Mèo International Border Gate. From Thanh Hóa city, travelers can also take the Hồ Chí Minh trail by motorcycle, car, or bus.
Once at Pù Luông, visitors can explore the hidden pristine landscapes, with misty scenery resembling a hanging garden in various spots like Son Bá Mười (Lũng Cao Commune), Pù Luông Peak, Kho Mường, Làng Đôn, the Pù Luông Retreat resort, Làng Ươi, Làng Tiến Mới, and the Hiêu Waterfall area in Cổ Lũng Commune... The area is rich in biodiversity, with 1,109 plant species, 598 animal species from 130 vertebrate families, including 51 endangered species. For those interested in community tourism, visitors can learn about the customs and practices of the Thai and Mường people, as well as their distinct cultural traditions and rich folklore in the rustic villages located in the peaceful valley.

After a day of exploring Pù Luông, visitors can relax and stay in spacious and airy traditional stilt houses of the local people. This type of tourism is organized by the locals, based on nature and local culture, with the goal of improving living standards while preserving and protecting the environment. By the stilt house's fire, travelers can enjoy local delicacies such as stone snails, hill chicken, grilled stream duck, wild boar, sour bamboo shoots, bitter bamboo shoots, forest sweet potato soup, lam rice, banana flower salad...

Pu Luong Nature Reserve has become an attractive destination, known to many people, especially international visitors. In addition to providing employment opportunities for local people, community-based ecotourism in Pu Luong has opened a new direction for development for the local economy as well as the province's "smokeless industry". With its values, Pu Luong has been recognized as a tourist area by the Provincial People's Committee in Decision No. 1907/QD-UBND dated May 21, 2019.
