According to some historical records, Báo Ân Pagoda originates from a legend about the abbot during the Lý Dynasty (11th–12th century). He was a man of great knowledge in both literature and medicine. The monk not only served as the abbot of the pagoda but also participated in the royal court, assisting the king. After attaining enlightenment, he retired from his official duties to focus solely on managing the pagoda and spreading the teachings of Buddhism. He passed away on the 26th of July (lunar calendar). To honor his contributions, the royal court constructed a new pagoda at the site where he achieved enlightenment, naming it Báo Ân Pagoda.

The pagoda stands out with its ancient architecture, including the main hall, the three-arched gate (tam quan), and supporting structures. The majestic Buddha statues, horizontal boards, couplets, and intricate carvings reflect the artistic talent of the past. The surrounding natural environment, with its lush greenery, creates a peaceful and serene atmosphere that attracts both Buddhists and tourists from near and far.

Every year, Báo Ân Pagoda hosts the traditional Water Carrying Festival – a unique event that highlights the culture of the Mã River region, drawing many visitors from both within and outside the district.
