Tường Vân Pagoda is situated in a unique location. In front of the Mother Temple and the Buddha Hall is the Hồ Công Cave, which is associated with Du Anh Pagoda, while to the south lies the ancient Tây Đô Citadel. The pagoda stands out with its intricate carvings of Buddha statues, ancient horizontal boards, couplets, and architectural details of high artistic value. Surrounding the pagoda are large, ancient trees, creating a serene and tranquil atmosphere that is perfect for prayer and meditation.
According to legend, during the reign of King Trần Duệ Tông, the Champa army invaded, looting and disturbing the lives of the people. The court sent armies to fight, but they all failed. In this dire situation, the king personally led the army to defeat the invaders. On the way through the Đún Mountain area, the king admired the picturesque scenery, surrounded by mountains and rivers, and ordered his troops to set up camp. That night, he dreamt of a golden cloud resembling a silk ribbon that appeared and disappeared in a mysterious way. He took this as a good omen and decided to hold a ceremony to pray to the heavens and the earth. In gratitude for the divine blessing, which brought spiritual strength to defeat the enemy, King Trần Duệ Tông ordered the construction of a pagoda and named it Tường Vân. During the Hồ Quý Ly period, Tường Vân Pagoda became a national temple. Today, Tường Vân Pagoda is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Hồ Dynasty Citadel.

Tường Vân Pagoda is not only a place for Buddhists and visitors to pray, but also a cultural and historical destination. The pagoda preserves many marks of Buddhism's development in Thanh Hóa.
