Đền Phủ Sung is one of the prominent historical and cultural sites in Như Thanh District, Thanh Hóa Province. Nestled amidst peaceful mountains, the temple is not only spiritually significant but also deeply intertwined with the history and culture of the region.

According to historical records, Phủ Sung is a cultural and architectural historical relic dedicated to the Mẫu worship, with Princess Liễu Hạnh at the head of the pantheon of deities worshiped at the temple. The temple is where local people come to offer prayers, seeking peace, good fortune, and prosperity.

The architecture of Đền Phủ Sung follows traditional styles, with intricate carvings, curved roofs, and a sacred worship space. Particularly, the temple is surrounded by a serene natural landscape, making it an ideal destination for those seeking tranquility.

The arrangement inside the temple is based on traditional design. The outermost part is the gateway, followed by the temple courtyard, which measures 210 m² and is surrounded by brick walls on three sides. The temple hall has five sections, four beams, and two roofs, built with traditional materials. The worship system inside the hall is set up in the central section. The altar platform is built in three levels: the top level is for the Mẫu worship altar; the second level has an incense burner in the center, with two lamps and a bronze censer; the third level consists of a central incense burner and two bronze incense holders on either side.

The temple still preserves many valuable artifacts, such as a round bronze censer from the Nguyễn era, two bronze incense holders, a stone dog statue, twelve stone slabs, and two parallel sentences hanging on the central columns. These artifacts are evidence of the efforts to protect and cherish the cultural traditions of the local people.

Đền Phủ Sung is not only a place for local people to show their reverence to their ancestors but also a captivating destination for visitors who are interested in exploring the culture and history. It is a must-visit landmark when traveling to Như Thanh District. The temple was recognized as a provincial historical and cultural relic in 1995.
