Thanh Hoa Residents in Red-and-Gold Join “Marching Forward with Vietnam”

Along with people across the country, thousands of residents in Thanh Hoa turned their attention to Ba Dinh Square to watch the national flag-raising ceremony, sing the national anthem together, and take part in the nationwide walking event “Marching Forward with Vietnam.”

On the morning of August 30, the “Marching Forward with Vietnam” program was held at Lam Son Square in Hac Thanh Ward to commemorate the 81st anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19, 1945 – August 19, 2026), National Day (September 2, 1945 – September 2, 2026), and the traditional anniversary of the People’s Public Security Forces (August 19, 1945 – August 19, 2026). The event was jointly organized by Nhan Dan Newspaper, the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of National Defence, and the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee.

The event was attended by Dau Thanh Tung, Member of the Provincial Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee; representatives of the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee; leaders of provincial departments and agencies; and nearly 6,000 local residents.

Since its inaugural edition in 2025, the program has generated strong social momentum, attracting more than one million participants and recording over six billion steps across the country.

Building on that success, this year’s program carries the message “10 Billion Green Steps – For a Sustainable Vietnam,” with a larger goal, broader scale and deeper significance.

At exactly 6:00 a.m., at Lam Son Square, provincial leaders, officials, teachers, union members, young people and local residents, dressed in red shirts featuring the national flag and yellow star, turned their attention to historic Ba Dinh Square to watch the national flag-raising ceremony. Everyone joined in singing the national anthem, creating a solemn and sacred atmosphere.

Following the launch signal, provincial leaders, officials and people from all walks of life walked along the main streets of Hac Thanh Ward in response to the message “10 Billion Green Steps – For a Sustainable Vietnam.”

The walking event embodied the spirit of moving forward together for a united and resilient Vietnam as the country enters a new era – an era of national aspirations and determination to advance toward a strong and prosperous future.

The event also aimed to further promote the campaign “All People Exercise Following the Great Example of President Ho Chi Minh,” creating a strong impression of community spirit and collective strength while showcasing an active, responsible and sustainably developing Vietnam.

The program also called on people across the country to exercise regularly, develop healthy physical activity habits and work together to promote a greener lifestyle.

Amid the festive atmosphere leading up to the country’s major national celebrations, the 2026 “Marching Forward with Vietnam” walking program was a meaningful and practical activity, helping spread patriotism, nurture national pride, inspire determination and encourage a spirit of contribution toward building an increasingly prosperous and civilized homeland.

The event in Thanh Hoa strongly promoted awareness of physical fitness, encouraged active lifestyles and inspired collective efforts to embrace a greener way of life.

At the conclusion of the event, “Marching Forward with Vietnam” 2026 recorded 1,774,268 participants, contributing 10,068,000,515 steps across 34 provinces and cities and nearly 3,000 communes, wards and special administrative areas.

At the event, Guinness World Records officially announced that “Marching Forward with Vietnam” had set a Guinness World Record for the largest number of localities simultaneously organizing walking activities to raise environmental awareness, with all 34 provinces and cities taking part in the nationwide initiative.
